Can you extend a countertop dishwasher drain hose?

A countertop dishwasher drain hose extension needs exact-model approval. Compare Danby’s supplied-hose rule with COMFEE CDC17’s limited extension allowance.

Countertop dishwasher drain hose extension: model rules

Do not buy a universal extension until you read the exact model’s installation instructions. Danby DDW631SDB says to use the supplied hoses. COMFEE CDC17P2AWW permits only a limited drain extension: no more than 13 inches, with matching material and diameter.

Inlet and drain hoses are different decisions

The inlet carries the water supply; the drain carries wastewater away. Approval to change one does not approve the other. A connector that physically slides onto a hose does not establish that its pressure, temperature, sealing or routing is suitable.

Measure the route the hose will actually take

Measure around the counter edge and any permitted bends, rather than the straight-line distance to the sink. Avoid tension at the connections, kinks behind the appliance and crushing against a wall. Check the highest point as well as the length.

For CDC17, the drain route must not be higher than 39¼ inches above the surface supporting the dishwasher. That reference point matters: it is not a measurement from the room’s floor. An allowed extension length does not waive this height rule.

Repositioning may solve the real problem

Before buying parts, try the installation drawing against a closer suitable location. Recheck door opening, power access and usable counter area at the new spot. A longer hose may look like a small purchase while creating a persistent drainage problem.

A support question worth copying

For [exact model], my proposed drain route is [length], reaches [height above the support surface], and ends at [sink or approved container]. Does the supplied hose cover this? If not, is an extension permitted, and what exact part and connection method do you approve?

We are not linking an unverified “universal” kit. Buying a brass fitting or extra hose before resolving these questions can leave you with parts that do not make the installation suitable.

Questions that come up next

Does COMFEE allow 13 inches of total hose or an extension?

The CDC17 manual describes an extension limit of 13 inches / 33 cm. It does not authorize replacing the route with an arbitrarily long hose.

Can I apply the CDC17 allowance to Danby?

No. Danby gives its own supplied-hose restriction.

Your next useful step

Confirm the permitted route first; buy a part only after its exact compatibility is established.
