Example only: 18″ opening − 17.25″ body = 0.75″ remaining. This is not verified operating clearance; your opening may differ.
The model in our pair to investigate first
The Danby DDW631SDB has a manufacturer-listed height of 17.25 inches. That makes it a more relevant starting point than the 18.1-inch HAVA R01 for an 18-inch opening. The HAVA body exceeds that opening before filling access or operating clearance is considered.
Four checks before clicking a buying option
- Measure the lowest point. Include cabinet trim, lighting and anything hanging underneath.
- Check the supporting surface. The Danby body is listed as 21.65 inches wide and 20.65 deep. Hoses and connections need additional consideration.
- Confirm faucet compatibility. This model does not have a water tank. Use the manufacturer’s installation guide and exact faucet details.
- Check real loading access. Make sure you can lower the door, pull out the rack and handle the plates you use.
What makes the purchase worthwhile?
A workable spot close to the sink can turn a repeated dishwashing chore into a load-and-unload routine. A cramped spot that blocks cooking, the faucet or cabinet access can do the opposite. Picture both cooking and cleanup before assigning this counter space to a machine.

Four models, with the height question kept separate
| Model | What an 18-inch opening tells us |
|---|---|
| HAVA R01 | Listed 18.1-inch body: excluded before operating space. |
| COMFEE CDC17P2AWW | Both published height figures exceed 18 inches: excluded. |
| Danby DDW631SDB | Listed 17.25-inch body: investigate installation requirements. |
| COMFEE CDC22P2AWW | Manual shows 17¼ inches: investigate, but conflicting depth remains unresolved. |
A body that is shorter than the opening passes only the first question. Hoses, leveling, the opening door and the manufacturer’s installation conditions still determine whether the spot is usable. Do not turn the leftover fraction of an inch into a ventilation allowance.
If your faucet permits the connection, the Danby vs COMFEE six-place comparison is the next useful read. If it does not, changing brands between those two does not solve the water-supply obstacle; use the faucet guide first.
