Countertop dishwasher cycle time includes more than washing
The answer depends on the program and whether drying is counted. Danby DDW631SDB lists Normal at 110 minutes and Speed at 45. HAVA R01 lists Normal washing at 69 minutes plus a separate 60-minute drying phase.
Useful published examples
| Exact model and program | Published timing | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Danby DDW631SDB Normal | 110 minutes | Danby says this model has no drying cycle; follow its separate end-of-cycle cooling and door guidance. |
| Danby DDW631SDB Speed | 45 minutes | A shorter program for a suitable load, not proof of equivalent cleaning for dried-on food. |
| HAVA R01 Normal | 69-minute wash + 60-minute drying | 129 minutes is the sum of those published phases, not our measured ready-to-unload time. |
| HAVA R01 Speed | 29-minute wash + 60-minute drying | The same arithmetic gives 89 minutes including the listed drying phase. |
These are manufacturer figures for the named models. Actual operation and the time you choose to unload can differ. We have not timed the appliances. Do not transplant this table to R09 or a similarly named COMFEE model.
When a quick wash makes sense
Choose it only for the soil level and dishes the manual allows. The CDC17P2AWW manual describes Rapid for lightly soiled items and excludes drying from that program. If you want dry cups immediately afterward, a short wash label does not supply that result.
For a regular evening load, ask which routine is easier: run an appropriate full program while you do something else, or use a suitable quick cycle and handle any remaining drying. A quick cycle that requires rewashing an unsuitable load has not saved your effort.
Shorter does not automatically mean cheaper
Cycle duration alone cannot establish energy or water use. Compare the model’s program table rather than multiplying minutes by a guessed constant power draw. Heating and pumping vary during a cycle. Our cost guide explains how to use documented consumption and your own rates without inventing a savings figure.
Why there is no six-model speed ranking here
Published program names and documents do not always align. BCD6W’s current product descriptions and support manual use different program lists, so we do not assign its older table to every current unit. A careful comparison is more useful than a winner built from mismatched programs.
Before ordering, decide whether washing time, drying time or total turnaround is the constraint. A household needing the same two mugs again soon has a different priority from someone running one evening load.
Questions that come up next
Does a delay setting shorten the wash?
No. It schedules a later start; do not count the delay as a faster wash program.
Is 129 minutes a tested HAVA result?
No. It is simply 69 plus 60 from the brand’s published wash and drying phases.
Your next useful step
Compare the full routine you need, not just the smallest number on a program list.
