The answer before the details
This BLACK+DECKER BCD6W review treats it as a faucet-fed candidate for plates within its stated 10-inch limit. Confirm your tap and current installation drawing before buying because published dimensions and program names differ.
A faucet-fed option for your everyday plates
The BLACK+DECKER BCD6W is worth comparing if you prefer connecting to a suitable tap over refilling a tank. BLACK+DECKER lists six place settings, plates up to 10 inches, a delay of up to 24 hours and a child-lock feature. Think of it as a candidate for a regular dishwashing station, rather than something you automatically lift into a cupboard after each meal.
Why consider it?
A documented plate-size limit gives you a useful first check. Faucet supply may suit you if carrying water to a tank sounds like another chore.
What needs checking?
Confirm the faucet connection and actual installation dimensions. The brand page, Amazon listing and support manual do not give identical size figures.
We have not tested this dishwasher. This review separates documented features from the questions that need answering before you order.
Start with the faucet you already own
The support manual describes an included quick-connect assembly and faucet adapter for compatible internally or externally threaded connections. It does not establish compatibility with every kitchen faucet.
Before choosing the appliance, identify the tap you intend to use. A pull-out spray head or unusual outlet needs a specific compatibility answer; the word “portable” does not supply one. Our faucet compatibility guide explains what to inspect before shopping for extra parts.
Try a simple routine check: imagine that faucet occupied while you prepare the next meal. If that would be frustrating, explore the tank-versus-faucet guide first. The right supply method can matter more than one additional wash-program label.
Do not buy for a tight gap using just one listing
| Source | Published body measurements |
|---|---|
| BLACK+DECKER product page | 21.7 in wide × 19.5 in long × 16.9 in high |
| Support manual, page 8 | 21 21/32 in wide × 19 11/16 in deep × 17¼ in high |
| Amazon listing bullets | 21.5 × 21.7 × 17.2 inches, presented without axis labels in the bullet |
Our recommendation: if a fraction of an inch decides the purchase, get the current US installation drawing for the unit being sold. Do not select whichever measurement makes the appliance appear to fit. The BCD6W is excluded from our numerical fit checker.
Even after confirming the closed body, account for opening the door, unloading the rack, hoses and the permitted installation clearances. Use the setup checklist to plan a usable place for the appliance. A footprint that consumes your only chopping space may exchange one frustration for another.
Let the dishes you use decide capacity
The brand’s 10-inch plate statement is more useful when you compare it with your own dinnerware. Measure the pieces you use on an ordinary day, including bowls and awkward containers. The six-place-setting rating does not promise room for six people’s cookware as well.
Our loading worksheet helps you define a realistic goal. Handwashing an occasional large pan can be an acceptable tradeoff if a machine takes over the repeated plates and cups. If that large pan is your main reason for buying, resolve its fit first.
Supplies and drying: follow the matching manual
The support manual explicitly allows tablets or pods in the detergent dispenser and gives powder guidance. It also describes liquid rinse aid in a separate dispenser and non-vented condensation drying. See our detergent guide before buying supplies.
Do not treat a dispenser’s capacity as the right dose for every cycle. The supplied manual and detergent label should agree on your routine. We have not measured drying performance or compared detergent brands in this machine.
Why we are not promising an exact cycle time
The current brand page names programs including Intensive, 90 Minutes, Rapid and Soak. The support PDF uses different names, including Heavy, BabyCare, Speed and Rinse. Because those documents do not align, we do not map their cycle times onto the current listing or declare an efficiency winner.
When this belongs on your shortlist
Consider the BCD6W when your faucet is compatible, your everyday dishes match its loading limits and the current unit’s installation drawing works for your space. Then compare the delivered price, seller and return terms.
Also read the Danby DDW631SDB review and COMFEE CDC22P2AWW review. All three are faucet-fed candidates; the choice should follow verified fit and your routine, not an unsupported cleaning score.
