Our take: shortlist it for the space, then check the tap
The Danby is a useful alternative to the taller tank models in our comparison. Its appeal is practical: the closed body may suit a lower opening. That advantage only matters if you can also accommodate its width, hoses, opening door and water connection.
We would put it on a shortlist for someone with a workable tap and a dedicated counter spot. We would pause if keeping that tap available during every wash is essential. This is a research review; we have not measured cleaning, noise or reliability.
| Decision | What it means |
|---|---|
| Body height | Danby lists 17.25 inches. Body height is not installation clearance. |
| Water supply | Faucet connection; no refillable tank. |
| Normal program | The manual lists 110 minutes. Plan a wash around your routine. |
Picture a normal evening
Before shopping, imagine the machine in its intended position with its door open. Can you still reach the sink, prepare food and empty the rack? A countertop appliance earns its space by taking over a repeatable task. Moving several other appliances before each wash can make a promising purchase feel like another chore.
Use our faucet compatibility guide before ordering adapters. The Danby manual describes a quick-connect arrangement and specifies its supplied hoses; a longer replacement is not an automatic solution to an inconvenient location.
Fast washing and dry dishes are different questions
The manual lists a 45-minute Speed program. That number describes a program, not our verified cleaning result. Its drying guidance also matters: there is no separate drying cycle, and some items may remain wet. If putting everything straight into a cupboard is your priority, read those instructions before deciding that a shorter wash is better.
Compare the tasks you want to avoid with the tasks you would keep: loading, unloading, caring for the filter and handwashing unsuitable items. Our cost guide and calculator helps turn that routine into a budget.
Who should keep looking?
Choose a tank-focused shortlist if your faucet is unsuitable or you want the supply tap free. Start with the HAVA R01 versus Danby comparison. If the Danby still suits your space, inspect the exact model, seller and return conditions before buying; similarly named variants are not interchangeable.

Choose it for a workable routine, not a program-count contest
Shortlist it when the faucet connection works and the wider body has a permanent place. Skip it for this setup if you need tank filling or your faucet documentation rules out an appliance connection.
Before ordering, decide when you would start a wash and when you next need the sink. The machine can take over a washing task, but its location and connection should not make preparing the next meal harder.
How it compares with the COMFEE six-place model
The relevant alternative is CDC22P2AWW, not COMFEE’s smaller tank model. Their manuals publish matching Normal-program time, water and energy figures. That is a reason to look closely at fit, the exact offer and your preferred features instead of inventing a large efficiency advantage.
Our Danby vs COMFEE comparison puts those figures and their source locations side by side. It also explains why similar specifications do not prove identical cleaning or durability.

Stock the right supplies
Danby specifies liquid rinse aid and discourages detergent tablets or gel packs. The setup guide explains one rinse-aid option and what to check before buying.
