Our take: do not pay for an assumed performance gap

These are close alternatives for a reader who can use a faucet connection and has room for a wider countertop machine. Both are described as six-place-setting models. More revealingly, their manuals list the same Normal-cycle time, energy and water figures.

Choose between the exact offers after confirming fit and setup. Our evidence does not justify naming one the better cleaner or the more reliable machine. A suitable layout, the seller’s terms and a feature you will actually use are more defensible deciding factors.

Choose neither if tank filling is essential. The HAVA and COMFEE tank-model comparison addresses that different need.

Program figures are from the manuals’ printed page 9 tables, not household measurements. Equal published values do not prove equal real-world performance.

What matching cycle tables mean for your budget

If you enter the same utility rates, detergent allowance and number of Normal cycles, the documented inputs produce the same running-cost example. There is no basis in those inputs for declaring a large energy-cost advantage for either model.

Our running-cost calculator uses those Normal-program figures for an illustration. Purchase price, setup, inlet-water heating, repairs and other exclusions still need considering. Check the current offer at the retailer rather than relying on a price copied into an article.

The depth discrepancy can matter more than the brand

COMFEE’s linked manual gives a 500 mm / 19 11/16-inch depth, while its product page lists 20.6 inches in the dimension set. That is a material difference beside a short counter. We cannot resolve it by choosing whichever figure makes the machine fit.

Danby’s own page lists a 20.65-inch depth. Treat both products’ body dimensions as the start of installation planning: you also need a workable connection and an open-door loading path. Ask for the current exact-model drawing when the available space is close.

Will the faucet arrangement work for you?

Both manuals describe a quick-connect assembly. Neither is a way around a faucet manufacturer’s restriction. For example, Delta’s published answer excludes its pull-down and pull-out faucets. The compatibility guide explains that case and offers tank alternatives.

For a suitable fixed faucet, picture the whole routine: start a wash, prepare a drink, clear food from the counter, then unload. A larger tableware capacity is useful only if the appliance and its hoses do not make that routine awkward.

How we would narrow the final choice

  1. Confirm the installed space. If one exact model fits with documented operating access and the other does not, that resolves the choice.
  2. Check your dishes. A place-setting count is not a pan-and-mug fit guarantee. Use the loading worksheet.
  3. Read the controls you care about. Investigate drying or timing options in the matching manual instead of assuming a product photograph proves how a program works.
  4. Compare current purchase terms. Exact model, condition, seller, delivery and returns can matter more than a small difference in a feature list.
